2 Day sketching & acrylic painting workshop
This is a NEW 2 day workshop where you can follow my process from start to finish pulling together 2 workshops I run; 'Sketching for paintings' and 'Building the layers - an exploration in acrylic'.
It's a chance to completely immerse yourself in the process for a couple of days and get familiar with what works for you.
Workshop details:
- Each day the workshop will run from 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch. Your work from Day 1 will be left in the hall overnight ready to use the following day.
- Attendees should aim to arrive from 9.45am - time to meet up and grab a coffee before cracking on with the workshop.
- The workshop will be in Stratton-on-the-Fosse village hall - a bright airy space.
- Day 1 will include learning how to sketch with intent; learning how to notice and then capture what it is about a place that resonates with you and how to respond to these sketches back in the studio. This is about laying the foundations for painting on day 2. The morning will be spent outside sketching (weather permitting) - so be prepared!
- Day 2 will teach you will teach you the versatility of acrylic paint and ink; introduce you to mediums you can use with acrylic paint, colour and how to keep loose through layering. You will learn techniques to apply acrylic using different tools and how to create depth of interest through layering plus have the opportunity to work on 2 new paintings using the skills you learn during the morning session.
- You will use your sketchbook work from Day 1 as inspiration for Day 2.
- Refreshments (i.e. tea, coffee & cake) are included both days.
- Remember to bring your own packed lunch for both days.
- Materials are included but you are of course welcome to bring your own art materials if you prefer.
- There is parking next to the hall.
