What is the price?
Introductory rate £65 - booking open until midnight on the 9th March 2024.
Early bird rate £45 - this rate is available until midnight on the 18th February 2024.
This online workshop is being run at an introductory rate as I'd welcome feedback on what went well and what could be improved. After the workshop you will be sent an email asking for feedback.
What does the workshop fee include?
The workshop fee includes 3 x 2.5 hour live zoom sessions on the dates outlined.
What will it cover?
Week 1: Exploring ink
Discover the versatility of ink: you will use ink to explore tone and mark making using a variety of ink materials and techniques.
Week 2: Discovering visual texture through print
I will share different print techniques to create visual texture of various tones using mark making, print and the effect of layering.
Week 3: Painting with collage
In week 3 we will be using the results of week 1 & 2 as resources to create a number of collages. I will show you have to handle pattern and tone when creating your composition.
What happens after I book?
After booking you will receive a welcome email with information about the workshop including information about the 'Zoom' meeting link, materials list and private Facebook Group.
What is the Facebook Group
The workshops are supported by a private Facebook group where members can share their work, ask questions and support each other. During the course I will be regularly dipping into the Facebook group to support artist members and answer questions but after the course it will be a platform for members to engage with each other. You will be invited to join the group after booking.
Please note that you do not need to join the Facebook group - it just provides a platform to engage with others on the same journey as you.
What are the free bonus recordings?
The live Zoom sessions will be recorded (technology permitting) and a link to view them will be emailed to you after the session. The videos will be available to view until the end of May 2024 so that you have plenty of time to re-watch the workshop content. The videos will not be downloadable.
Please note that should a session fail to record there will be no refunds as this is free bonus content.
How can I access the Zoom session?
I will provide you with a link to access the workshop on Zoom. You will need a high speed internet connection and a device (home computer, laptop, tablet or phone) to access Zoom.
What if I don’t want to be on the recording?
Zoom allows you to switch off your video which will prevent you being seen.
What if I have questions during the workshop?
These can be raised under the zoom chat and I will endeavour to cover them during the session. Questions I miss I will answer in the Facebook Group. Further questions can be raised in the Facebook group.
What materials do I need?
Material lists will be sent out in advance of the workshop to give you plenty of time to sort out what you need. The type of materials you use is flexible but you will definitely need a supply of 160gsm cartridge paper (A4 minimum size) and thin photocopier paper.
What if I can’t source the materials?
Not to worry – the materials list will suggest alternatives so that the workshop is as accessible as possible.
Do I need to create art while I watch the workshop session?
No you can just watch if you prefer. It's totally up to you.
What if I’m unable to join a live workshop session?
Whilst the workshop fee is for the 3 live sessions as a free bonus I intend recording the sessions for attendees to view in their own time so you should be able to catch up by watching that. Please read T's & C's regarding the recordings.

Who is the workshop for?
- This workshop is suitable for all abilities; the activities will encourage you to expand your mark making repertoire, get a better understanding of tone and pattern and how they are both used in collage.
- For those of you looking for inspiration.
- Perfect for those that want to gain more self confidence when working with print and mark making.
- It’s for artists that fear a blank piece of paper and don’t want to make a ‘mistake’! (Hint: there are no mistakes).
- For artists that want a guidance on things they can create using different materials and processes.
- For artists that would like a safe space to experiment within a framework.
- It is perfect for those of you that want to have fun trying ‘what if I do this’.
It is not:
- A definitive guide on how to use particular materials – though you will see how I use them.
- This is not a gelli plate printing workshop but I will be showing you how I use a gelli plate to create amazing visual textured prints that can be used in collage, mixed media paintings and sketchbooks.
