What is the price?
Introductory rate £20
This online workshop is being run at an introductory rate as I'd welcome feedback on what went well and what could be improved. After the workshop you will be sent an email asking for feedback.
What does the fee include?
The fee allows access to join me in my studio via a 1.5 hour live Zoom session on the date outlined. The session allows for a quick break at the mid point. It also includes access to a free 1 hour Q & A session.
What will it cover?
The aim of the session is to give you a window into the process I use to ignite and explore ideas. In this particular session I'll be dipping into how I explore landscapes (sketches & photos) using collage to spark ideas. I will share about how I make my collage materials, mark making, tone, colour and composition. I will share why I'm following certain avenues of exploration, plus the materials and techniques I'm using as I explore.
It's a time to enjoy the sense of discovery as you take your sketchbooks on a journey with me; it will be a relaxed session where we can enjoy creating together.
What happens after I book?
After booking you will receive an welcome email with information about the session including information about the 'Zoom' meeting link.
What are the free bonus recordings?
The live Zoom sessions will be recorded (technology permitting) and a link to view them will be emailed to you after the session. The video will be available to view for 3 weeks so that you have plenty of time to re-watch the workshop content. The video will not be downloadable.
Please note that should a session fail to record there will be no refunds as this is free bonus content.
How can I access the Zoom session?
I will provide you with a link to access the workshop on Zoom. You will need a high speed internet connection and a device (home computer, laptop, tablet or phone) to access Zoom. The Zoom link will be provided by email 2 weeks before the event.
What if I don’t want to be on the recording?
Zoom allows you to switch off your video which will prevent you being seen.
What if I have questions during the workshop?
These can be raised under the zoom chat and I will endeavour to cover them during the session. Questions I miss I will answer in a follow up Zoom Q & A call.
What materials do I need?
When I explore with collage in the studio I use materials I have to hand. Please use the materials listed below as a suggestion - you can always just use what you have.
Collage papers (I use wet strength tissue paper or copier paper printed with acrylic paint/covered with a variety of marks using non soluble materials eg. pencils / permanent pens / acrylic paint / ink)
The collage materials need to include a variety of tonal values ie from light to dark.
Alternatively you can also use paper collage materials you have to hand - magazines, old book pages, maps, sewing patterns etc.
You will need either a sketchbook (I use Seawhite), cartridge paper (I use 220gsm), heavy watercolour paper (400gsm) or bits of mount board. Using paper let's you work on lots at the same time whereas a sketchbook will need to dry before you turn the page.
I use acrylic matt medium as a glue using an old brush to apply it. You can also use PVA glue or a glue stick if you prefer.
Scissors
Straight edge/ruler
Do I need to create art while I watch the workshop session?
No you can just watch if you prefer. It's totally up to you.
What if I’m unable to join a live workshop session?
Whilst the fee is for the live session as a free bonus I intend recording the sessions for attendees to view in their own time so you should be able to catch up by watching that. Please read T's & C's regarding the recordings.
